IRBA is a juristic person in terms of Section 3 of the Auditing Act and is listed as a National Public Entity in Part A of Schedule 3 to the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No. 1 of 1999) (the PFMA). As a result of this status, South African Revenue Services (SARS) has deregistered IRBA as a vendor for VAT purposes with effect from 31 August 2009.
