The IRBA is a schedule 3A public entity as defined in the Public Finance Management Act, and is situated in Modderfontein, Johannesburg.

The pace of change and development in the accounting and auditing professional both locally and internationally has been unprecedented. IRBA would like to ensure continuous efficient and proactive delivery against the extraordinary demands being made on the profession.

With this in mind, the current Director Standards will be retiring in May 2014. The IRBA is embarking on a recruitment process to ensure that the most suitable person will be able to replace the Director: Standards once she has retired. As this is a very challenging and specialised position, the person will work with the current Director for a number of months before taking over as director by May 2014.

The following manpower resources and skills are required for the position of DIRECTOR: STANDARDS

  • Manage and support a number of committees and subcommittees including the Committee for Auditing Standards and the Committee for Auditor Ethics
  • Stakeholder management and the interface with other regulators and government departments requiring regulatory reports from auditors
  • Liaise with international bodies, participate in their projects, influence international standards and provide comment on international exposure drafts
  • Provide technical support to registered auditors, institutes and others
  • Develop procedures and processes to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the Standards Department

The position requires a CA(SA) with at least ten years’ experience in auditing and assurance, exposure at senior management level, and strong technical knowledge and skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have been involved in standard setting.

The Director: Standards reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
