Pretoria, Thursday, 21 August, 2025 — The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) - South Africa Chapter have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at fostering collaboration between the two organisations. This strategic partnership marks a significant step in aligning the regulator and the profession with global standards in information systems auditing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Speaking on the partnership, IRBA CEO Imre Nagy said: “This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to future-proofing the audit regulator and the audit profession. By working with ISACA SA Chapter, we are investing in the digital competencies of our relevant staff and the auditing profession. “By acknowledging internationally benchmarked certifications, the IRBA is ensuring that the South African auditing profession remain competitive and relevant in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.” The MOU also commits both organisations to collaborative knowledge-sharing, including participation in relevant webinars, workshops, and research initiatives. This is in line with the IRBA’s intention to continue fostering impactful stakeholder relationships and enhance audit quality through innovation and collaboration. By leveraging ISACA’s global expertise in IS/IT audit and governance, the IRBA demonstrates its commitment to being a proactive regulator that embraces technological advancement and cross-sector partnerships. Says ISACA SA Chapter President Kenneth Palliam: “We are proud to support the IRBA in its mission to uphold public trust and audit excellence. We will continue to empower our members within the auditing profession with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of the digital age.” The MOU is effective for five years and will be reviewed annually to ensure alignment with evolving industry needs and strategic priorities.
