The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors appoints its new chairman

Johannesburg, 18 August 2017. The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Abel Dlamini as the new chairman of the IRBA Board. In terms of the Auditing Profession Act 26 of 2005, appointments of members to the Board are made by the Minister of Finance.

Abel Dlamini CA (SA) brings with him a wealth of experience in auditing, including internal audit, IT and Forensic auditing. He is the Executive Chairman at SekelaXabiso and was a founding member of Sekela Consulting, one of the partners in the merger that created SekelaXabiso. He played a key role in the establishment of Sekela Consulting as a market leader in the internal audit, IT audit, forensic audit and the consulting services sector prior to its merger with Xabiso Chartered Accountants. Prior to establishing Sekela Consulting he was a partner at two of the global audit networks and served as the Chief Executive Officer at Dlamini Inc. He is a member of SAICA and the Institute of Internal Auditors (SA). He also received a national award in the Business & Professional Services category at the 2014 Titans Building Nations Awards.

The rest of the board members bring with them a variety of skills and experience to successfully drive the IRBA’s agenda, which include experience at listed entities, regulators and state owned entities, leadership, academia, legal, governance, international and auditing.

I am confident that the diverse skills and experience of my board will equip the IRBA to discharge fully its statutory obligations, support the Minister of Finance in driving the State’s national objectives, and continue to protect the financial interests of the investing public”.
